After our great success with our hay production in 2014, we are already looking forward to a great 2015 season.
We have made some great changes to our shop including the new front entry, as well as an update to the business branding to reflect that we are one of the few Local, Rural and Independent operators in the region.
Crop wise, we have been concentrating on using mid to late season rye grasses as they will produce great hay along with having the potential to produce more if we get a late rain.
As one farmer said “if you look around, the only paddocks that are green are the ones that we sowed!”
This is because plants will head to seed when the conditions are right – whether it be because the right amount of light or temperature or some other trigger.
It will also do this if their it looks like the weather is dry – as a survival mechanism.
So, it is important to ensure that you select a variety to maximise your growth potential.
